The 'Beyond Recovery' mission under the government's flagship 'Clean Sri Lanka' program continues its momentum with the launch of the second phase of a two-day residential training for district level trainers. Aimed at bolstering mental health support in Ditwah cyclone affected communities, the program followed its successful Kandy District kickoff on December 26.
Held at the Nuwara Eliya Lesher Village Institute, this phase targets Government officers and volunteers across the district. It equips participants with vital skills to address trauma among children, youth, and adults in recovery centers, blending expert led lectures with practical counseling and resilience building activities.
The opening ceremony drew prominent figures, including officials from the Clean Sri Lanka Secretariat, Nuwara Eliya District Parliamentarian and District Coordination Committee Chairman Hon. Manjula Suraweeraarachchi, and Assistant Divisional Secretary Ms. Sandamali from the Norwood Divisional Secretariat Division. Government officers representing all Divisional Secretariat divisions in the Nuwara Eliya district also joined, reinforcing a united front for community healing.
This rollout underscores Clean Sri Lanka's holistic approach, linking environmental restoration with psychological recovery in disaster-prone regions. Officials praised the initiative as a scalable blueprint for nationwide mental health resilience.
