Tuk Tuk Training

As part of the Clean Sri Lanka National Program, the third phase of a specialized training series aimed at enhancing the ethics and professionalism of three-wheeler (Tuk Tuk) drivers in the tourism sector was successfully held at the Galle Municipal Council Sports Pavilion.

The inauguration and certificate awarding ceremony was graced by Hon. Sunil Gamagedara, Mayor of Galle Municipal Council; Mr. Raja Kumara, Director General of the Road Passenger Transport Authority; Mr. K.H.D.D. Dias, Divisional Traffic Officer in Charge; along with representatives of the Clean Sri Lanka program and other senior officials.

Over the course of two days, 120 three wheeler drivers received valuable training from distinguished resource persons including Ms. Soumya Batuwatta, Senior Lecturer from the University of Ruhuna, and Ms. Sahangi Alwis, Trainer from the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board.

This program reflects a nationwide initiative under Clean Sri Lanka, targeting 10,000 drivers island-wide during 2025, aiming to elevate civic responsibility, courteous service, adherence to traffic regulations, and overall service quality for tourists. Ethical conduct and professionalism among transport providers are seen as vital to boosting Sri Lanka’s reputation as a safe, welcoming, and tourist-friendly destination.

Through such ongoing efforts, Clean Sri Lanka continues to foster sustainable tourism by raising public service standards and ensuring visitors enjoy a positive travel experience throughout the country.
