Clean Sri Lanka Advances School Safety and Etiquette with Key Workshop at President's Office

Ethical Pillar 2026 Plan


A pivotal workshop convened on 27th January at the Presidential Secretariat to shape the "Clean Sri Lanka" program's Ethical Pillar initiatives under the 2026 budget. Focused on drafting concept papers, briefing institutional officers, and preparing project proposals, the session outlined ambitious plans to transform school environments and community hygiene nationwide.

Key discussions centered on child-centric projects, including renovating or removing dilapidated buildings and essential facilities in provincial schools to guarantee safe learning spaces. Participants also explored upgrading sanitary facilities for comfort, creating teacher-parent protocols for maintenance, and launching awareness campaigns like "Next Gen Leaders" to drive behavioral change. Additional priorities such as developing green zones in select schools to instill environmental and ethical values, plus community-driven etiquette projects under Provincial Councils.

Presided over by the Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, the event drew top officials such as "Clean Sri Lanka" Convener and Senior Additional Secretary to the President Mr. Rassel Aponsu, Additional Secretary to the President Eng. S.P.C. Sugeeshwara of the Clean Sri Lanka Secretariat, Finance Commission Secretary, and Uva Province Chief Secretary Ms. Anusha Gokula. Representatives from the Finance Commission, Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government, Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education, and the Department of National Planning also contributed.
