Clean Sri Lanka Mobile Service Launched in Point Pedro as Part of ‘From the Heart to Jaffna’ Program

The Clean Sri Lanka Secretariat is organizing a series of programs titled "From the Heart to Jaffna", aimed at successfully promoting the "Clean Sri Lanka" initiative among the Tamil community in the Northern Province. These programs, focused on the Jaffna district, are being held from August 13 to August 20, 2025, with August 14 marking the second day of the series.

As part of efforts to address common challenges faced by the Tamil community, the Clean Sri Lanka mobile service was launched this morning at Selawewa Maha Vidyalaya in Point Pedro. The mobile unit offers a wide range of services, including national identity card processing, motor vehicle transport department assistance, support for small and medium enterprises, and services provided by local government authorities. Additionally, with support from the Coconut Cultivation Board, coconut seedlings were distributed to residents, and eyeglasses were provided to those in need, among other benefits.

The first phase of distributing bicycle tire kits to children from low-income families was also carried out with support from the Department of Social Integration (DSI).

Moreover, a music therapy workshop was organized for officers of the Palali Security Forces Headquarters, alongside a program to raise awareness of the Clean Sri Lanka initiative among Tamil media professionals at the Jaffna District Secretariat.

The program, conducted under the leadership of the Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Hon. Ramalingam Chandrasekar, was attended by Northern Province Governor Mr. N. Vedanayagam, Jaffna District Secretary Mr. M. Pradeepan, and several other dignitaries.

Representing the Clean Sri Lanka Secretariat were Mr. Dulip Somaratne, Director (Ethics); Mr. Dasun Wijesekera, Director (Coordination); and Mr. N. Sanjeepan, Assistant Secretary of the Public Empowerment Secretariat, accompanied by a team of officials.
