Kegalle District witnessed the launch of the "Happy Country" Clean Sri Lanka special mobile public service program on November 20, 2025. The inaugural event took place at Dehiowita Atalugama School, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing national initiative aimed at fostering cleanliness, integrity, and community welfare throughout Sri Lanka.
This impactful program was a collaborative effort organized by the Clean Sri Lanka Secretariat, the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government, alongside the Kegalle District Secretariat. The mobile service is designed to extend essential public services and community support to several Divisional Secretariats within the district, including Deraniyagala, Yatinthotam, Dehiowita, and Ruwanwella.
Beneficiaries of the program were provided with valuable goods such as spectacles and wheelchairs, addressing key public health and mobility needs. The program seeks to enhance accessibility and improve the quality of life for residents within these divisions.
The launch event was graced by a distinguished assembly of dignitaries. These included the Honorable Minister of Environment, Dr. Dhammika Patabandi, Member of Parliament Dr. Nandana Millagala, the Kegalle District Secretary, Mr.H.M.J.M. Herath , Chairman of Dehiowita Pradeshiya Sabha, Mr. Saman Weerasinghe, the Chairman of Ruwanwella Pradeshiya Sabha, Mr. Darshana Waidyaratna, Divisional Secretaries from Dehiowita, Ruwanwella, Yatinthotam, Deraniyagala, and Bulathkohupitiya, Clean Sri Lanka Kegalle District Coordinator Mr. Anuradha Nuwan, members of local government authorities, and a large gathering of enthusiastic participants.
This program exemplifies the government's commitment to grassroots engagement and the promotion of Clean Sri Lanka's core values, bringing crucial services directly to the people and strengthening the collective commitment to a cleaner, happier nation.
