Clean Sri Lanka Reopens Library at Trincomalee School with "Arunu Dora" Initiative

Arunu Dora Trinco

The "Clean Sri Lanka" National Programme marked a milestone in fostering a thinking and reading generation through its island wide "Arunu Dora" reading promotion and library development project. Aimed at sparking positive behavioral change via daily attitudinal shifts and igniting children's passion for literature, the initiative saw the rebuilt library at Sri Sumedhankara Maha Vidyalaya handed over to eager students on 17th January, following its destruction in a recent fire.
The vibrant handover ceremony drew dignitaries including Trincomalee District Parliamentarian Hon. Roshan Akmeemana, Clean Sri Lanka Program Director (Information Technology) Mr. Isuru Wijesinghe, Clean Sri Lanka District Coordinator Mrs. Pramila Priyadarshani, and Eastern Province Governor's Public Relations Officer Mr. Dilip Nandun Kodippili. Joining them were the Trincomalee Zonal Education Director, school principal, teachers, students, and parents, celebrating this rebirth of knowledge.

The Clean Sri Lanka Secretariat collaborated with key private partners including LB Finance, Dambulu Timber Company, Haggai International, and Damro whose representatives attended the event. Their support enabled the swift reconstruction, exemplifying the Clean Sri Lanka program's three pillars of social engagement and ethical governance in action.
"Arunu Dora" empowers youth nationwide by transforming schools into literacy hubs, aligning with Clean Sri Lanka's mission for sustainable community upliftment. This Trincomalee effort follows similar recoveries, reinforcing resilience in education amid challenges.
