Welcome to Clean Sri Lanka

Community Centric Model Villages Program

In line with the Clean Sri Lanka National Programme and to fulfill its objectives, it is planned to implement the Community Centric Model Villages program during the years 2025, 2026, and 2027. Under this program, one village (with approximately 50 families) will be selected from each Divisional Secretariat Division annually, adopting a participatory rural approach.

Through this program, selected villages are expected to be developed as community centric model villages based on identified ideal indicators in the fields of education, economy, health and sanitation, household management, social welfare, culture and spiritual development, and environmental conservation. Suitable villages for the proposed program will be selected with the co-operation of District and Divisional Secretaries.

For each selected village, all relevant field officers from line ministries attached to the respective Divisional Secretariat offices will be mobilized to efficiently and effectively fulfill the needs of the village community under this program.

Accordingly, the proposal presented by the Minister of Industries and Enterprise Development to the Cabinet and has been approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.

This initiative aims to foster integrated, sustainable development at the village level, contributing to the broader goals of the Clean Sri Lanka project.
