The first phase of the ambitious "Dream Destination" program, aimed at renovating 100 railway stations across Sri Lanka under the "Clean Sri Lanka" national initiative, reached a triumphant milestone today. The newly revamped Thalpe Railway Station was officially opened to the public, symbolizing a bold step toward modernizing the nation's public transport infrastructure.

Funded by Star Garments (Pvt) Ltd., the station's transformation blends functionality with aesthetic appeal, offering passengers improved facilities and a cleaner, more welcoming environment. The inauguration ceremony drew high-profile dignitaries, underscoring the project's national importance.

Presiding over the event was Hon. Bimal Ratnayake, Minister of Transport, Highways, and Urban Development. Joining him were Hon. Ratna Gamage, Deputy Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources, Hon. Naleen Hewage, Deputy Minister of Vocational Education, and Dr. Nishantha Samaraweera, Parliamentarian and Chairman of the COPE Committee.

The gathering also included key officials such as Eng. S.P.C. Sugeeshwara, Additional Secretary to the President at the Clean Sri Lanka Secretariat, alongside directors from the secretariat. Representatives from Star Garments, including management director Mr. A. Sukumaran and Director of Operations Mr. Jeevith Senaratne, were present. Dream Destination project director Ms. Maheshi Gunaratne, Transport Ministry officials, Habaraduwa Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Mr. Harsha Punchihewa, Sri Lanka Railways General Manager Mr. Ravindra Pathmapriya, and NIO Engineering convener Mr. Lakmina Samarasekara rounded out the distinguished attendees.
