The Dream Destination programme, an initiative under the Clean Sri Lanka initiative, is set to launch its fourth phase with the renovation of the Kandy Railway Station on October 1, 2025. This programme is a collaborative effort based on Public, Private, and People participation, aiming to enhance 100 key railway stations across the country.
Previously, renovations have been initiated at the Thalpe, Colombo Fort, and Maradana Railway Stations, marking significant improvements in Sri Lanka’s railway infrastructure. The upcoming renovation of the Kandy Railway Station continues this momentum to create cleaner, more efficient, and aesthetically appealing transport hubs.
The programme is jointly organized by the Clean Sri Lanka Secretariat, the Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation, and the Department of Railways. This comprehensive project receives full financial support from MAGA Engineering (Pvt) Ltd, reflecting a strong commitment from the private sector to support national development goals.
With these renovations, the Dream Destination programme strives to provide commuters with safer, more comfortable, and modern railway facilities, contributing to the overall vision of a cleaner and more sustainable Sri Lanka.
