As part of the "From the Heart to Jaffna" series under the Clean Sri Lanka promotional program, a project to establish fruit gardens in ten selected schools across the Northern Province was launched on 19th August at Jaffna Shri Somaskanda College. Alongside this initiative, an awareness program was conducted to educate students about the Clean Sri Lanka concept and foster environmental consciousness among the younger generation.
The program aims to promote green practices within schools, utilize vacant school land for income-generating productive projects, and cultivate an environmentally responsible future generation.
This comprehensive initiative is supported by Sampath Bank. The inauguration ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including the Secretary of the Northern Province Ministry of Education, the Director of Provincial Education, Mr. Arulchelvan; Mr. Anjula Premarathna, General Manager of Sampath Bank; Mr. Dasun Wijesekera, Director (Environmental) of the Clean Sri Lanka Secretariat; Mr. Nishantha Alvis, Assistant Director (Media); and Mr. Kabilan Sundaramurthy, former Senior Lecturer at Jaffna University and Coordinator of the Jaffna District Coordination Committee, among others.
