Mobile Service Jaffna

Under the Clean Sri Lanka national program, the 'Mobile Services and Special Public Assistance Service Program' was jointly organized by the Jaffna District Secretariat and the Nallur Divisional Secretariat. The event was successfully conducted recently at the Nallur Divisional Secretariat with the participation of a delegation of officials led by Mr. M. Pradeepan, District Secretary of Jaffna.

The program also saw the presence of key figures such as Mr. E. Jayakaran, Deputy Chairman of the Nallur Pradeshiya Sabha, and Mr. S. Kapilan, Member of the Jaffna Municipal Council and Coordinator of the Jaffna District Coordination Committee, who represented its Chairman.
The Mobile Services program offered the public a wide range of services, including those from the Department of Registration of Persons, pension-related assistance, birth and death certificates, and proposed age verification certificates. It also covered motor vehicle registration and vehicle revenue licensing, services provided by local government institutions, and support from the police department. Additional services included human resource development and employment guidance, skills development and vocational education counseling, social services, offerings from the Elders’ Secretariat, land-related assistance, and medical clinic services. Furthermore, eye screenings were conducted, followed by the free distribution of spectacles.

Additionally, based on identified needs, selected groups received wheelchairs, hearing aids, spectacles, planting saplings, school bags for students, sewing machines, sports equipment for clubs, and free beds for individuals with long-term disabilities. As an initial measure to reduce polythene use, cloth bags were distributed to the public.

A unique highlight of the day was the formal registration of marriage for five couples who  were cohabiting but had not legally registered their unions.

The program attracted a large turnout of community members, reflecting strong public engagement and the commitment to improving access to essential services in the Jaffna district.
