The latest phase of the "Reservoir Zone Demarcation" project, under the "Clean Sri Lanka" initiative, has been successfully completed with a focus on the Akatimuruppu Reservoir located in Mannar District.

The principal aim of this important programme is to accurately identify and permanently mark the designated buffer zones surrounding the reservoir. This initiative is expected to bring multiple environmental benefits, including:

Protecting vital water catchment areas.

Preventing unauthorized land use.

Enhancing the water quality of the reservoir.
