 
The inaugural event of the NEXTGEN LEADERS program in Sabaragamuwa Province was held at Ratnapura Vidyaraja Maha Vidyalaya on 29th October, led by the Provincial Governor of Sabaragamuwa, Hon. Mrs. Champa Janaki Rajaratne. This program is implemented across all government schools nationwide as part of the Clean Sri Lanka national initiative, focusing on the ethical pillar to drive positive social transformation throughout society.
The event saw the participation of approximately 100 students from eight schools in the Ratnapura educational zone. The program features eight sessions in Sinhala and three in Tamil mediums, targeting all government schools across Ratnapura and Kegalle districts within the province. It is anticipated to raise awareness among 1,000 students across Sabaragamuwa in the current year. These students will act as ambassadors to disseminate awareness throughout the entire school system under this initiative.
The important occasion was graced by eminent officials including the Secretary of the Provincial Ministry of Education, Mr. Chamara Bamunuarachchi; Provincial Director of Education, Mr. Pushpakumara Dias; Director (Planning), Mr. Neville Kumarage; and Regional Education Director, Mrs. Nilanthi Dayananda, alongside teachers and parents.
