Northern Province Launches Training Program to Enhance Ethics of Tourism Sector Tuk Tuk Drivers

The Northern Province kicked off a training program aimed at uplifting the ethical standards and professionalism of three-wheeler (Tuk Tuk) drivers who operate within the tourism sector. The inaugural event was held on November 1 at the Jaffna Public Library auditorium under the auspices of the Northern Province Chief Ministry.

The program was officially inaugurated under the leadership of Hon. K. Ilankumaran, Member of Parliament representing Jaffna District, accompanied by Northern Province Chief Secretary Ms. Thanuja Murugesan. Other distinguished attendees included A. Sothinathan, Secretary of the Northern Province Ministry of Local Government, Mr. A. Pathinadan, Chairman of the Northern Province Tourism Bureau, and Mr. K. Maheshwaran, Chairman of the Northern Province Road Passenger Transport Authority.

In conjunction with the launch, supplementary workshops were held at the Nallur, Valikamam East, and Valikamam South Pradeshiya Sabha auditoriums to further disseminate the training within the province.

This comprehensive training series is designed to raise the ethical conduct and service quality of three wheeler drivers in the tourism sector throughout the Northern Province. By promoting professionalism and courteous service, the initiative aims to contribute positively to the region's tourism industry and enhance visitor experiences.
