Strategic Discussion on Optimizing Budget Utilization for the success of the "Clean Sri Lanka” Programme

A discussion on the efficient utilization of the LKR 5 billion allocated from this year's budget for the "Clean Sri Lanka" programme, a key government initiative, was held today (18) at the Chartered Building opposite the President’s House. The meeting was chaired by Engineer S.P.C. Sugeeshwara, Additional Secretary to the "Clean Sri Lanka" programme.

The "Clean Sri Lanka" programme has been implemented nationwide with the aim of driving a transformative change in the ethics, social and environmental sectors.  

During the discussion, extensive deliberations were held on the intended initiatives under the "Clean Sri Lanka" programme, the challenges encountered during implementation and the financial requirements necessary for its success.  

Accordingly, a detailed evaluation was done to prioritize the allocation of financial resources to the relevant Ministries and Departments.  

Senior officials representing  key Ministries and Institutions participated in the discussion, including the Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation, Sri Lanka Transport Board, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, Ministry of Digital Economy, Ministry of Urban Development, Construction and Housing, Ministry of Provincial Councils and Local Government,  Finance Commission,  The Western Provincial Council (WPC) and the Western Province Waste Management Authority, alongside officials of the "Clean Sri Lanka" programme.
