Supporting safe pilgrimages with "Clean Sri Lanka": Colombo Dockyard’s vital health equipment donation for "SriPada" season

Sri Pada Season

As the "SriPada Pilgrimage Season" approaches, the Colombo Dockyard institution has made a significant contribution to the "Samanola Siri-Haritha Wandana" program, a special project implemented under the "Clean Sri Lanka" initiative. This vital support aligns with the upcoming "Unduvap" Full Moon Poya day marking the start of the "Sripada" pilgrimage season.

In a thoughtful gesture to ensure the health and safety of devotees, Colombo Dockyard has donated an essential stock of medical assistant equipment. This donation aims to safeguard the well being of both local and foreign pilgrims who undertake the spiritual journey to "Sri Padaya".

The "Clean Sri Lanka" program has planned an extensive array of special health services to elevate safety standards and improve medical facilities throughout the pilgrimage period. Cementing this partnership, Colombo Dockyard presented emergency stretcher beds and mobile first aid containers to Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, Secretary to the President.

Representatives from the "Clean Sri Lanka" Secretariat, including Director (Environmental) Mr. Anjula Premarathna and Director (Social) Mr. Kapila Senarath, participated in this symbolic handover, reflecting a strong collaboration between public and private sectors.

With this equipment in place, authorities expect to deliver prompt and effective medical services during any emergencies that arise among devotees throughout the pilgrimage. This initiative not only promotes a safe and healthy pilgrimage but also reinforces a commitment to environmentally friendly practices, highlighting the importance of protecting public health in tandem with spiritual observance.
