Uva Cultural and Arts Festival Launched to Inspire Positive Social Change Under Clean Sri Lanka Program

The Uva Cultural and Arts Festival, aimed at creating positive social transformation and conceptual development aligned with the government’s primary Clean Sri Lanka initiative, was launched ton 29th September with great enthusiasm at the Badulla Senanayake Park. This festival seeks to bring about conceptual change in the people of Uva Province through their appreciation of literature and arts.

Held under the theme "In Search of the Cultural Person," the festival raises public awareness about the social, environmental, and ethical aspects of the Clean Sri Lanka initiative. It is expected to popularize the programme that seeks to create a beautiful country and a joyful population.

Organized by the Uva Provincial Council along with numerous provincial institutions, the festival runs from September 29 to October 5 across various locations in Badulla town. The event features a wide range of cultural arts, including dance and singing performances, poetry recitation competitions, traditional cultural elements like "Kolam Madu", films, and stage dramas.

In addition to celebrating the nation’s artistic heritage, the festival emphasizes conducting programmes in an environmentally friendly manner to promote the value of a clean environment among the public, thereby directly contributing to the environmental goals of the Clean Sri Lanka concept.

The opening ceremony was graced by the Minister of Plantation and Community Infrastructure, Hon. Samanth Vidyarathna, Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development, Hon. Vasantha Samarasinghe, Uva Provincial Governor Attorney Kapila Jayasekara, Uva Provincial Secretary Ms. Anusha Gokula,  Additional Secretary to the President Eng. S.P.C. Sugisswara, as well as many government officials, artists, literary figures, and a large gathering of the public.
